Once settled back in the Jogja Plaza Hotel (in exactly the same quiet room, hooray!) I gather energy to ride public transportation (TransJogja bus) and head to the main mall. It is four stories of every kind of shop selling the kinds of goods and services that consumers worldwide have come to expect. Even a few luxury brand stores. And of course there is a Christmas sale going on!
I see a hair salon and so get a decent cut (preceded and followed by a full shampoo) for around $5.00. On my way out, I notice a sign in English for a “mosque” (even though by now I know they mean “musholla”) and so head to the roof. Clouds are building for a major rain, so I snap a few photos and ride the bus back to the hotel with about 10 minutes to spare.
